Last Day - Friday

Yesterday we travelled the 40k to the Black Sea camp. There we made a fire with fallen branches that we cut up and placed into a double line of bricks. As soon as the wood had burnt down enough, Peter barbecued pork chops and kekbabs that he had marinated overnight.

Whilst the meat was cooking some of the guys played football with the lads from Transition
House whilst others went down to the beach.

We enjoyed a fabulous meal with our hosts and after clearing up we returned to the shelter for a well earned rest. It was good to stop for a break in the peace of the camp.

This morning we bought some flowers to give, as a thank you, to the ladies who have prepared and served our meals each day.

We are continuing with our work, trying to get as much done as we can before we leave tomorrow.

It is with mixed feelings that we plan to go home early tomorrow morning, we are looking forward to going home to see our families but we will leave with real sadness, having had good fellowship with our friends here.

We look forward to our next visit in May next year.

Thursday 26th September

Yesterday was another long day, finishing at about 6.30pm. We returned to the church for our evening meal then, after a welcome shower to remove he accumulated dust, we walked dwn to a local supermaket to buy some gifts to take home.

We managed to cross and recoss the very busy main road and dodged the passing trams to get to the supermarket.

This morning we are all starting to feel the fatigue building, but we are pressing on and can now see the progress that we are making.

Later this afternnon we hope to go to the Black Sea camp for a break and one of Peter's famous barbeques.

Wednesday 25th September

Yesterday was very tiring here in Odessa. We worked hard for 9 hours, had our evening meal at Transition House then went back to the shelter for a quick shower.
We then took several of the children from the shelter and the lads from transition house ten pin bowling at the local bowling alley.

After 2 games we returned to the shelter for a well earned cup of tea, finally getting to bed about midnight.

We were up early this morning for a 7.30 breakfast before starting work again.

The work is progressing steadily as more tiles go down and the metalwork going in for the suspended ceilings in the toilet and shower rooms.

Still having problems uploading photos to the blog.

Keep watching for more updates

Monday 23rd/Tuesday 24th September

Arrived at Transition House after several traffic jams this morning.
It was good to see the progress that has been made since our last visit with tiles on the stairs and in several rooms.

We set to work with 2 men boxing in piping, another cementing in pipes in the walls and the others tiling and mixing adhesive and cement.

Progress seems slow after previously putting up plasterboard sheets, but the work now is more time consuming with a lot of
effort and not much to show for it.

Monday proved to be a tiring day for everyone and we were all in bed before the children in the shelter.

Today we continued with the same work as yesterday but now we can start to see our progress and have had the thumbs up and an approving nod from Sasha the builder.

We are having some problems with wifi at time and also issues adding photos to the blog, we will keep trying to get some photos uploaded as soon as we can.

Sunday 22nd September

We arrived safely yesterday evening, a little late after delayed flights.

Today we have enjoyed good fellowship with the people at Grace Baptist Church. It was harvest Sunday here and it was a joy to hear how the Lord has blessed the Church in the past year.

We took some time out this afternoon to go into Odessa and see the sights.

Tomorrow we start work at Transition House.

Car Wash

A huge thanks to everyone involved in the recent car wash, all those that came along to wash the cars, cook and serve the breakfasts.
A particular thanks to everyone who brought their cars and donated more than £700 to the project.

We will be taking this money along with some more previously given to Odessa on 21st September.
